A splash of colour and history in the heart of Catalonia
The colourful and charming gem that is Girona is set on the banks of where the rivers Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell meet. Girona is protected by fortifications and features a remarkable medieval centre along with several fine Romanesque and Gothic buildings.
The province houses the ancient Arab Baths, the Girona Cathedral, and the lovely Girona Art Museum. Due its mountainous terrain Girona is also a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts, whilst theatre lovers can enjoy a performance at the Auditorium Jardins del Castell.
Girona has a lively nightlife and offers a wide variety of bars, restaurants and cafés serving anything from local Basque and Catalan delicacies to traditional tapas and an array of international cuisines.
Other popular landmarks to see are the 14th-century Sant Feliu, the historical fortifications, the 11th-century Monastery of San Daniel, and the characteristic Girona Bridge.
Girona Train station offers direct links to bustling Barcelona and the picturesque province of Portbou. Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation options and deals in Girona and around Catalonia.
Fantastic place for a cycling holiday. So many other cyclists, cafes and bike shops make it feel like it was made for cyclists. Roads are buttery smooth and once you get out of town there is very little traffic. So many different scenic routes to choose from.

Second time staying here.
Second time staying here. The apartment had everything I needed (except bluetooth sound on tv)) and arrival / departure was hassle free. The arrival pack of the cleaning essentials is great for flyers and the street balcony was lovely to air the place (and dry cycking gear) and also watch old town activity. Will be back.

Getting around the Jewish quarter was easy to navigate using the river as guide . So many little alley ways all end up along the river and you see so many old historic buildings. Very quaint and peaceful, always felt safe.
The Jewish museum is a must do if you want to learn about the history of Girona. WILL COME BACK AGAIN.

Walk the City Walls - there is no charge for this and the views are stunning.
The cathedral is also a must - and don't forget to visit the cloisters, plus the museum with its 11C tapestry illustrating the Bible.
The Art Gallery is worth a visit, especially if you have an interest in religious art.
The Jewish Museum is also interesting.

Close to Barcelona, Girona is a very nice destination for 2-3 days. The city is compact, very beautiful with interesting story. Apart from the medieval and historic monuments, there is a cinema museaum and a lot of stores with manga, comics, toys nice for teenagers.
Hotel was 10min walk from old town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and modern with tea making facilities a fridge safe and hair dryer and air-conditioning. Only 1 English channel on TV. BBC news. There was no bar as such. Selection of beers and wines in a room called an honesty bar. Main bar in restaurant didn't open till 7.30 and you could get drinks served to deck. Breakfast was €10 and €9if you pre booked. It was basic continental. In my opinion not worth price.
The location was perfect, and the staff was really helpful (Victor was the best host/introduction we experienced in our entire trip throughout Spain).
The apartment was spacious, well stocked, and in a great location for cycling and seeing the key sites around the older part of Girona. Nice views of the city/street on one side of the apartment (small 2nd story deck on the street side with cathederal view) and one of the bedrooms also had a view of the river and red bridge.
I was a bit put off by the name of the hotel - The Hotel BESTPRICE sounded like a cheap budget option. It was inexpensive, but it was very nice place to stay.
Very clean, comfy bed, crisp linen, everything worked, staff were friendly and the breakfast in a nearby cafe was good (but perhaps not every day if you're there for a while). I liked that the toiletries were in refillable containers without lots of wasteful plastic.
We stayed here for three nights. I chose it over the old town options because we had a car and parking is not an issue at Hotel Palau. I would avoid eating breakfast or dinner at the hotel, there are so many great options for half the price of the hotel a ten minute walk away, but we did enjoy the snacks and drinks available 24-7.. We also enjoyed the patio and the beds were exceptionally comfortable.
Lovely hotel situated right in the quiet end of the old town. The staff were very helpful with recommendations. The cava on arrival was a lovely surprise. Breakfasts are buffet style with lots of choice of continental style breakfast items. Modern, fresh rooms in a lovely old building. The rooms were spotless and maintained perfectly.
I actually did like the location. It's incredibly near a park that has a buffet restaurant that serve vegetarian food. So, if I hadn't stayed here I would've never know. I didn't mind the 20 minute walk to the old side of Girona, either.
The bed was the best bed I've slept in Spain, so far. (Take into account that I like soft beds!)
The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. They gladly take the time to introduce you to the city and the hotel which is located in the heart of the old town. During breakfast, it is possible to have fresh orange juice and "pa amb tomàquet" served. I loved the way they managed to keep the old Catalan charm!
Very nice hotel very close to the Old Town. Parking at hotel but a little difficult to get to. Very large comfortable room. Young man at front desk was very helpful. We were very surprised at how big and nice Old Town was for walking late on a Saturday night.
Beautiful boutique hotel in a great central, yet quiet, location. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. The pool area is really lovely and was great to have when the weather was 35°C all week. Staff were friendly. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the hotel.
amazing location and friendly staff. Hotel facilities were wonderful especially considering I’m a cyclist and the hotel has many amenities catered towards cycling. I would definitely recommend and I’ll be returning again.
The hotel is clean and it’s approx 15min walking distance from the old town. The room was fine, it was quiet and they have lockers to leave your luggage there if needed after you checked out.
