Masheen Handmade Goods is just me, Polly Smith. Masheen is an old gaelic term for cat or kitten, so it seemed appropriate that I used that name for the (mostly) cat items I create. I like to take an old idea and turn it into something new. I love Coffee, Crafting, and Cats..not necessarily in that order! The most recent new members of our family are three adorable, smart, and cuddly rats. Expect rat items in the future!
I have been making and creating since I was very little. A couple years ago, I could not decide whether I should open my own store. One day, my partners dog got sick. We could not afford the surgery he needed to stay alive. At the time, all the sales I generated went to his health bills. Marcel's story is a sad one. He didn't make it due to a huge cancerous tumor near his heart, but the leap for me had been made. I am very much a cat person, so for a dog to have such a huge impact on my life and how animals can help us heal really sticks with me. I will be making and selling items and when I can a portion of the proceeds will go to animal rescue.

Lately, I have had to focus on Masheen as my primary source of income. Some of you know my (usual) primary source of income has been working with a cat rescue called Rock Cats rescue, but I have not been able to work for them since we cannot tour (due to the pandemic.) I am very afraid that I will have to get a real job. Every dollar you spend here keeps me from walking away from cat rescue and keeping my dreams alive.
