Housed in a restored Dutch colonial building, Nooit Gedacht Heritage Hotel features 2 swimming pools, a huge garden and free parking on site. Ayurvedic treatments are available.

The perfect place to begin a family holiday - excellent staff, large tranquil safe surroundings. Huge shared pool and smaller shaded pool were a big hit with our children. The food at the in-house restaurant was exceptional and reasonably priced. The large gardens make this a wonderfully restful quiet place to stay, we loved it. Beautiful original features of the Dutch governor's house have been retained - there's also an on-site spa.

Just steps away from the Jungle Beach, Jungle Village by Thawthisa is an eco-friendly resort situated in Unawatuna.

The place was great, we enjoyed our time here. The staff were really helpful and the waiter who served us was very attentive to our needs while also being polite, and friendly. The room was spacious and sitting on the balcony to the sounds of the jungle was a perfect relaxation activity. We didn't use the pool as we use the local beaches each day. There are two lovely beaches within walking distance.

    I've been to Unawatuna 4 times/years and that beautiful place changes for worse. There is new oversized monster-hotel, water scooters, loud music, fireworks, higher prices... In last 2 years 90% of tourists are Russians - some restaurants are only in russian. Most likely, I am not going back.

    Unawatuna beach has beautiful water and golden sand. The part of the beach where I visited, the ocean gets quite deep very fast, and the waves seem to cary you in quite easily. I haven't seen any lifeguards or flags that would indicate the wave's condition, but local people were very kind to give information. If you like hiking, the city has a nice trail to a beach called Jungle beach. Trough the same trail, you can pass by the Japanese Peace Pagoda, and if you are lucky you might see monkeys and lizards. The trail is more or less 40 min one way. The restaurants from the hotels are very much on the coast, sometimes seems to close from the beach. But the food quality is good and affordable, and lots of these restaurants offer alcohol. I stayed one day in Unawatuna and it felt enough time to discover what the city has to offer.

    Its a great beach, much busier than it used to be. Some great places to eat, generally inland a bit so do some research. Perfect place if you want a 15min trip into Galle which is a must. Nice and safe

    I heard that this used to be a great beach. Unfortunately I do not think it is today. Very exploited and there are many beach places renting out sunbeds. They can get away with having (very) crappy toilets because there are new tourists every day, they do not need a good review. Having dinner on the beach was a strange experience, started out good but then a large company came and occupied the space next to us, ordering champagne, oysters and lobsters like there was no tomorrow, and we were forgotten about. There are plenty of other beaches in Sri Lanka that are much better.

    Easy to get to Galle and Secret Beach. Lots of shopping and busyness. Much different feel to other popular spots in SL If it's rainy season, then get out in the morning. The rain usually comes in the afternoon

    Wow!! Everything about Epic was great. The staff is incredible and so helpful. They gave us towels to take to the beach which was super nice. The breakfast??? Wow. Every morning we got 1 English breakfast and 1 Sri Lanka breakfast to share both and they were amazing, and so much food! The rooms are big and super clean, good A/C and fast WiFi. It took us 2 minutes to walk to the southern end of Unawatuna beach, and everything else we wanted to go to was an easy tuk tuk ride. We will definitely stay here if we come back to Unawatuna!

    We spent about 2 weeks in Sri Lanka and The Waves was the best property where we lived in Sri Lanka. It should be rated as very clean by Sri Lanka standards, also in perfect location. Free sunbeds and beach towels. Super comforfable bed, very good AC and an amazing shower. I will add also that wifi was working very good, we were on workation and were able to have calls and everything without problems. In staying in Unawatuna, I would really recommend this, it's not cheap, but it is worth the price.

    Agnus unawatuna is by far the best hotel we’ve stayed in sri lanka. The price you pay for it is totally worth it and even less than what you would normally pay for the luxuries it offers. The rooms are big and beautiful, the service is amazing and the views are spectacular. It has an infinity pool on top of the roof that offers what must be the most amazing views of all sri lanka. The food was amazing as well and I asure you it is worth every cent. I recommend it without any doubt.

    The owners of this hotel are wonderful the staff are lovely and friendly, the rooms are spacious with very comfy beds and sofas. Wi-Fi is outstanding. Swimming pool huge. Omelettes are perfect and great coffee. Monkeys can be seen in the trees from the garden and the location is perfect it sits only a short walk from jungle beach which has a great restaurant and the beach is beautiful and the village on Unawatuna with loads of amazing beach restaurants and little shops.

    I stayed at Sea view Villa, close to Unawatuna beach and it was great. The hotel is right by the beach, so you get amazing views. The room was simple but comfy and had lots of space. The breakfast was delicious, and you can also have lunch and dinner there. The owners are super friendly and nice, which made my stay even better. I definitely recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing stay with great views and yummy food.

    Epic Unawatuna really impressed us. Our room was stylish and spotless, the bed was huge and the wifi was probably the best we had in Sri Lanka. The hotel is set off the busy main road so it's quiet but only a short walk from one end of Unawatuna beach. Everyone was lovely and helpful and we particularly want to thank Mahesh for making our stay such a laugh! We'd absolutely recommend staying here.

    The best hostel I’ve ever stayed at in Sri Lanka, Everything was great.     Fab location, right at the top of the Main Street in Unawatuna and about 8/9 minutes from the beach. Also above a coffee shop that served some of the best coffee I had on my trip to Sri Lanka! Very clean and spacious rooms with big balcony’s and nice bathrooms. The staff were so kind and welcoming and did all our washing for very cheap. Great hotel.

    We had a great stay in Hiding Unawatuna property. The location is very convenient, close to the beach and all restaurants. Homemade Sri Lankan style breakfast was delicious and huge! They have western breakfast too. The rooms are big, comfy and well equipped. And the owner's family is really friendly and helpful.

    My wife and I traveled to Negombo, Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella, and this was our favorite hotel on the trip. We spent three days here and didn't want to leave. The views, quiet beach, and hospitality were all amazing. The food was some of the best we had in Sri Lanka as well.

    The hosts are amazing and the kids are a delight. They went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable and fun as possible. And the Sri Lankan food they offer is amazing!

    The style of this hotel is beautiful! Very scenic and a great location to explore Unawatuna and it's beaches. The breakfast was great and the staff were lovely.
