Skip the plastic and the chemicals and try out an all natural deodorant bar! Grass-fed tallow and candelilla wax give this deodorant firmness in warm temperatures, while organic coconut oil and magnesium hydroxide help even farmer pits stay fresh. Scented with your choice of essential oils (lavender, lemongrass, tea tree and patchouli). Net wt. 2.5 oz.
*Attention Southern Deodorant Users:* While this deodorant is nearly melt-proof by northern Vermont standards (we rarely see summer temps over 80!) it may arrive soft or melted if it experiences prolonged exposure to temps over 80. Please consider purchasing during cool weather or adding an ice pack to your order. Melted deodorant bars can be reset in the fridge and still be used as normal but may leak in the package during shipping.
About the Packaging:
As a part of my commitment to sustainability, I try to avoid the use of new plastic whenever possible. Putting this product in a plastic deodorant tube would also add to price and I strive to keep my products affordable. The deodorant stays solid even in hot weather, so it is easy swipe on! Keep the butcher paper wrapper to hold the bar or just use it bare handed! The butcher paper wrapper does contain a thin plastic layer but I haven't been able to find anything else that keeps the fat from soaking through. It is the lesser evil in my opinion!
Tips for Best Effectiveness:
1. If the indoor temperature is cool (under about 70) allow the deodorant to warm on your skin for a few moments before applying, otherwise you may not apply enough product. Make sure to apply to the full armpit area.
2. Apply to damp or dry (not wet) skin.
3. Allow to absorb for a minute or two before putting on a shirt, this way less rubs off on your clothing.
4. If you are switching from a chemical antiperspirant, your body may need some time (up to a few weeks) to adapt and flush out your pores, which the aluminum in conventional antiperspirant blocks up.
5. Some people who work especially hard or naturally sweat more find the tea tree or patchouli scents to be more effective than lavender or lemongrass.
6. To avoid oil stains on clothing, allow to absorb before dressing, wash clothing in water as hot as the fabric will tolerate and use caution when wearing delicate fabrics that cannot tolerate warm or hot water washes. Try out our laundry soap as a stain stick to pre-treat existing stains and/or soak clothing in warm to hot water with washing soda (sodium carbonate) before washing.
