Peens & Co was born out of the love we have for Rufino, our 11 year old silky terrier who we call Peens for short.

  • Trini

    Owner, Maker, Designer

I love colours and all things leather and design and handcraft every piece from start to finish. Our shop began as a way to help pay for Peens chemo and vet bills when he was diagnosed with cancer. Since then it has evolved.

  • Rufino AKA Peens

    Owner, CEO

I am Boss PUP and the inspiration behind every pup design. I supervise every creation from start to finish and model all collar designs.

How should I care for my leather products?

Vegetable tanned leather products develop a beautiful patina with time. The leather will darken but the pain will stay vibrant.

Please read below on the best way to care for your Peens & Co leather products.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
- keep away from water
- clean with a soft, dry cloth
- nourish from time to time with natural leather conditioner
- keep out of sunlight for prolonged periods

°Please note: nourishing the leather will darken it slightly and this is completely normal. Patch test your product first.

Can I request a Custom order or order a style in my favourite colours?

We always love creating new products from scratch and have a variety of colours we are able to combine for a unique look.

Please contact us for a quote. Custom orders can have a lengthier processing time.

Ask us for details.

Will the leather paint wear off with regular use?

The paint we use is acrylic leather paint and we seal all leather products after paint application so it won't crack, wear off or fade.

With time the unpainted leather develops a patina but the paint stays just as vibrant creating an even more unique and beautiful piece.

What is vegetable tanned leather?

Vegetable tanned leather refers to the method of tanning the cowhide into leather.
It’s called “vegetable” because of the natural materials used in the tanning process like tree bark.

Each piece we make with veg tanned leather has unique shades and slight differences. The lack of consistency in colour and tone is a characteristic of the natural tanning processes.

Since vegetable tanning is a natural process, it’s also Eco-friendly.

Vegetable tanning instead of chrome tanning produces strong and sturdy leather. The leather is usually stiff in the beginning but gets more supple with time and use.

Vegetable-tanned leather is more expensive but so worth every penny and we love working with it.
