5 out of 5 starsWe love these so much! It took us a year to pick and agree on a bedside light and these are perfect! It took a few extra days to arrive than expected, but not a big deal. They were packaged well and came with a bulb, which was nice although we did swap them with a G16 matte porcelain bulb.

5 out of 5 starsI originally ordered the wrong base for my client's bunk bed sconces. They talked me through what would be the best solution and quickly shipped it out and graciously accepted the original bases back. Thanks!

Made to Order Returns - Exchanges
Due to the handcrafted, custom made-to-order nature of the products offered, Retro Steam Works does not accept returns for refund or exchange, unless DOA.
On DOA items, a repair will be attempted; if the product has been maliciously tampered with, the exchange will be denied.
Retro Steam Works takes pride and effort in describing the items in great detail and providing an accurate picture of each product. Please be sure to read the item description and view all pictures before ordering.
Have any questions? Please, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns; I'm happy to help you.
Finishes
Unfinished - Unfinished metals (Steel, Brass and Copper) will show manufacture marks, tarnish, rust and some other minor imperfections in most cases
Brushed - This eliminates almost all previously mentioned imperfections leaving only the beautiful brush marks/minor scuffs
Gun Metal - Combination of oxides on solid brass creates this deep matte gray patina, might show brass undertones
Deep Bronze - A deep brown color with blue undertones, this finish is done over brushed brass
Antique Brass - After brushing, solid brass is oxidized providing an antique brass finish that is consistent throughout
Rubbed Wax - This is a treatment applied upon request to most finished pieces, except; gunmetal, aged metals and paint finishes.
Returns & Cancellations
Exchanges are only accepted on DOA items, must contact within 30 days.
Because each item is handmade at the time of purchase, other returns may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
To qualify for an exchange; item should be unused, uninstalled, and undamaged.
Buyer's remorse returns will be subject up to a 50% restocking fee and the shipping costs are to be covered by the client.
Orders of three or more standard items, as well as orders of custom lighting in any quantity, are non-refundable and non-returnable.
Cancellations must be made within 12 hours, after that, your order goes into production schedule and the process begins. Canceled orders may have a 15% restocking fee; after 48 hours cancellations will have a 50% restocking fee.
Custom In-House Artisanal Finishes
Paint finishes are done using a six-step proprietary technique, each custom painted piece gets a minimum of four coats of the highest quality enamel paints on the market.
Hand-aged artisanal finishes are done using an eight-step proprietary technique, each component is hand-aged individually and soft polished with a mixture of natural linear polymers; an exclusive technique from my studio.
Do I offer other artisanal finishes? Sure! Oil rubbed tones, rustic patinas, industrial metal, wax paints and more; send me your ideas, I'd be happy to help you achieve your vision!
Lead Time on Custom Orders
Lead times are specified on the shipping and policies section of each listing, for a more accurate turn around time please contact me directly.
Paint finished pieces usually take more time than any other finish due to the paint curating times, environmental factors affect the lead time as well.
Almost any order can be expedited upon request at an additional cost, this only applies to the build and it should be requested prior to placing an order; expedited shipping is available as well.
• Limited Warranty and Limitation of Liability Policy
I personally test each one of my finished pieces and I guarantee to the original purchaser that, at the time of delivery, my products are free from defects in materials and workmanship therefore Retro Steam Works is not liable for any damages caused by these products.
- Do not use bulbs over 60 watts with any of my fixtures.
- Proper installation is recommended, professional is preferred.
That being said, I'm not liable for any damage to persons or property caused by these products, and you agree that, by purchasing or using my products, my maximum liability to you in the event of any damage is the monetary value of the product that was purchased from me.
Care for Custom Finishes
Black and white finishes are done in a matte sheen, therefore the paint might be prone to scuffs and/or scratches if not handled properly, please install with proper care.
For articulating sconces with paint finish, please adjust the swivels carefully as a rough handling might cause the paint to chip away.
Hand aged finishes are left unsealed (except dark bronze).
When installing your new light please avoid touching the treated surfaces with bare hands as skin oils might leave permanent smudges on the light fixtures, gloves or clean and dry hands are recommended.
To clean your lights with either an antique or paint finish, just use a lint-free cloth and dust lightly.
Updates to Policies
I may, from time to time, update this policy. Notice of material changes to my privacy practices will be posted at this site. I strongly encourage you to periodically review these terms and conditions in order to keep apprised of my current terms and conditions.
Can you customize your light fixtures to fit my space?
Absolutely! Dimensions, number of sockets, finishes, and materials can be customized no matter how small they are.
Since all of my fixtures are made from individual parts, these are completely interchangeable, you want accents in nickel, brass, copper or any other finish combined with other solid tones? No problem, I got you covered!
Do you want your sconces to match a chandelier or any other ceiling fixture? Yes! And vice-versa; I can build entire room sets using the same design.
Most of my fixtures can be installed on walls and ceilings; either horizontally or vertically; add a down rod and your dual sconce can be turned into a statement linear mini-chandelier!
