The Wooden Owl started in early 2009. We were getting ready to have our 3rd child and wanted to decorate her nursery with owls. This is back before the owl craze really hit. My husband, Nick cut a few owls out of wood and I painted and decopauged them with colorful scrapbook paper and they were a hit! Now, I should note, that my husband did not own a tool at this point and was not a "craftsman" by any stretch of the imagination. He is a musician, a guitar player and singer. He had just lost his job in the mortgage business which made up the bulk of our income. We had to do something, so we decided to sell some of our creations on Etsy. We made wedding signs and owls in the beginning all out of our home. His workshop was in our garage and my workshop was our kitchen. We set up a shipping area in our formal dinning room and this is how we worked for 5 years! We are now in a warehouse and have expanded our product lines. Our focus has been slowly going away from only offering kid's decor, we now have a full line of modern-rustic home decor. We love the look of reclaimed wood! We now have wine racks, kitchen shelving/storage, bathroom shelving, wooden trays, mason jar vase holders, coffee bars, headboards and many other "farmhouse" decor pieces. We are also adding to our kid's line. We offer children's bookends, clocks, towel racks, curtain tie backs and wall decor and many more unique items. It has been an awesome journey!
