I'm Johny, an online business owner and graphic designer hailing from the mighty Waikato in New Zealand. I love to create and build things.

Painting, music, landscaping, furniture building - you name it. If it requires a good mix of logic and imagination, it's my jam :)

My love of pixel art most likely came from days spent playing Legend of Zelda as a kid. It always amazed me that by simply using blocks of colour you could create something complex and multifaceted.

With coloured blocks alone you can create entire worlds, and I've always thought that's kind of beautiful.

Anyway, a good friend of mine became a big fan of cross stitching in her spare time during our student days. She loved to get cozy and stitch her worries away whilst we all hung out in the evenings. One night over a cuppa and some chats she pointed out that cross stitch essentially IS pixel art and suggested I try designing her a custom pattern.

So I started to work on my pixel and design skills and made a family portrait of our flat. In case you were wondering, it was adorable.

Over the next few years I continued to build and refine my art and my store. This has led to a compilation of some pretty sick patterns as well as the birth and growth of PixlStitch. I have a lot of pride in my store and I'm stoked to have built a space where you can enjoy my patterns as much as I enjoy creating them.
