Rumpelstiltskin
Rumpelstiltskin
Rumpelstiltskin is re-imagined as a fantastic fairytale, with theatrical spectacle, rocking music and supreme silliness. Full of twists and turns, it’s a whole new spin on a heart of gold sure to delight the entire family this winter.
Spinning straw into gold is a party trick that will take you far. It can buy you a big house full of beautiful things, a wardrobe of designer clothes and a life of total luxury, but money, as they say, can’t buy you everything.
Two best friends are torn apart by desire for the things they cannot have. This is the story of the ultimate price of greed.
The exquisitely mercurial Australian singer and cabaret star Paul Capsis stars as a shape-shifting imp whose thirst for vengeance may well undo him.

A totally incomprehensible story redeemed by the innovative production. Staging something called "Rumplestiltskin" at Christmastime implies a connection of some sort with the familiar story. There was no such connection here, consistent with the unfathomably of the plot. If we as regular theatregoers of pensionable age were left stumped, what about the very young? Or was it assumed that the visuals would be sufficient to entertain them for 2 hours? Despite this, full marks for actors, the vocals and the performance (if not the memorability) of the music.

Not true to the original fairy tale. If it was not for the Theatre and the available A&V resources this, would have been very poor. Take the show out of this Premier environment and it really would have struggled.

This was a nice fun show - it was colourful and surprisingly modern at times. The cast was very vibrant and talented. A ready good night.

A musical? A play? A pantomime? All of those things! A very colourful production, almost psychedelic staging and an energetic cast update this traditional story and make it relevant to contemporary audiences of all ages. A great afternoon of theatre.

I have to say I was a little bored in the first half. I should have researched the story a bit better as I found it hard to follow, and the characters, being so other-worldly, were a little scarey. The second half picked up. I liked the car scene. The music was good and the effects were good.

A great unique rock show! Non stop entertainment, great singers and Rumpelstiltskin held our attention permanently throughout the show

Very talented cast, I enjoyed the songs very much but I’m not sure about the story line. I wish they just stuck with the classic Rumpelstiltskin. Their take on the modern Rumpelstiltskin was not so great.

The producers of this play have lost touch with children and the festive season. The play was dark and uninteresting not suitable for under 10’s . The play was nothing to do with a very classic tale. Never seen so many parents leave the theatre with their children. Such s shame so dissappointing. Perhaps next year you might do better. Absolute waste of time and money.

This show is funky, quirky. Style is very retro with a twist. If you want to watch something different go and watch this show! A two hour show that went very quickly..

Not at all what I was expecting. Graphics on the show were great but found the performance a bit strange.

Saw the show with my 2 children - 9 & 13- we all totally loved it. The visuals are wondeful and the play is great! So creative, colourful and a tad bonkers which is perfect for us! The acting and singing fantastic. I would highly recommend this play.

Why do theatres sell pop corn and drinks, which only encourages constant fidgeting and rustling among the audience. Some people are practically having a family picnic instead of watching the show. very distracting and annoying.
