Zavvi Exclusive Steelbook - Limited to 1000 Copies
Directed by one of the greatest film directors of all-time, Stanley Kubrick (The Shining, A clockwork Orange) and starring Kirk Douglas (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) as the titular hero, this Blu-ray edition contains an extra five minutes that was not included in the original, as well as featuring an extended soundtrack along with the original overture.
Spartacus, a gladiatorial slave leads a revolt against his school in 73 BCE. Word of his struggle soon spreads across the rest of Italy and thousands of his fellow slaves begin to join his cause. Encamping on Vesuvius, they plan to escape with the help of pirates, but soon realise they must stay and fight the legions of Rome.
Also staring the legendary Laurence Olivier as his foe, the Roman General Marcus Licinius Crassus, and Jean Simmons as Spartacus' fellow slave and lover, the film documents the struggle of a simple man for his freedom in the face of the might of the Roman empire.

Spartacus - Steelbook Limited Edition
Fantastic steelbook of a true classic. The recent transfer form a 4k remaster is excellent, with improved colours, removed noise and scratches from the film which makes this movie a real pleasure to rewatch. Someone might want to know that the blu-ray also has Spanish, Arabic, Danish, Finnish, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese and Swedish subtitles along with English ones. It has DTS 7.1 English audio track with Spanish, French, German and Italian 5.1 DTS tracks. Highly recommended.

Excellent steelbook case! The bluray version of this classic film is amazing and the 4k scan and conversion has made thd film look like it was shot yesterday! Definitely worth buying!

Classic film, brilliant restoration.
I remember watching this film as a child, loved in then and still do. I have not watched all of the film yet, saving that for a rainy afternoon, but from what I have watched the restored film on this Blu-ray is brilliant, very clear, vibrant colours and great sound. The steel book artwork is also fantastic. And the Zavvi price is the cherry on the top of the cake.

Spartacus 55th Anniversary
This all time classic film has undergone a magnificent restoration. The picture quality is superb and looks like the film was made yesterday. A wonderful tale, awesome picture and sound quality. This is a must buy! Steelbook as well - wow!

Spartacus Steelbook
Fantastic remastering of a cult classic movie picture quality is amazing sound in 7.1 Alex Norths score shines (take no notice of the back it says 5.1duh). The five stars are for the movie restoration sound and picture. Now for the Steelbook well Zavvi it could have been better no emboss or deboss flat matte pic this is the 55th anniversary edition and as yet the only version available in a Steelbook u less u go and import the USA copy. Zavvi take heed better looking Steelbooks please and idividual numbered editions would be a nice touch. Keep up the good work and if there ever was a Steelbook you should create please do The Black Hole from Disney it so deserves a release I AM SPARTACUS!

Classic Movie
At last this film has been given a restoration that it deserves and the PQ is absolutely flawless. The extras are fascinating with a documentary on the restoration process and an interview with Kirk Douglas. The movie itself is a classic of course and presented in a great steelbook, it's a superb addition to anyone’s collection.

Classic
Forget about the TV series, this is the real thing. Beautifully acted, supreme direction and a stellar cast. The action scenes have been rarely bettered and it is a film with heart. And btw, I'm Spartacus.
