I’m Lizz, and I was a Maker before “making” was a thing. From Girl Scouts badge projects to art school study, and then into the early days of blogging DIY tutorials, I grew as a creator, online and in real life.
I caught the laser-cutting bug at a local maker space in 2014, got my first laser in 2018, and launched Pew Pew Lasercraft in 2019. Lasers perfectly combined my graphic design background with my abiding love of getting crafty, and making a mess.
PPLC grew and flourishes out of my love for all things geek (especially Star Wars) and finding joy. Just saying the iconic *pew pew* sound effect from the movies makes me smile, and customers at my in-person events always make the sound too, usually with accompanying finger guns.
I live with my husband and son in Northern California’s Sierra Foothills, between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, and while I work, I’m looking out across the Bear River and the mountains beyond. A one-woman business, I design everything I make, and fabricate it in my home workshop.
I make products for those who agree with Oscar Wilde’s belief that “Life is too important to be taken seriously.” I love injecting a little fun and humor into otherwise boring parts of life whenever possible. Why stir that soup with a plain wooden spoon when you can have one that reminds you to “Turnip the beet” instead?
Custom requests are my all time favorite thing. I love when a customer comes to me with a vague idea of what they’re looking for, we collaborate, and make the perfect design that they didn’t even know existed.
I’m looking forward to creating the perfect laser project for you – finger guns and a smile included.
