It was delightful! A place for walking and for contemplation and delicious food. The pebbly beach sits in front of the awe-inspiring Abbey & Church and you can glimpse a life there from bygone times. I hope it remains a tranquil and unspoilt hamlet.

When we got to San Fruttuoso, an isolated destination with access only on foot and by ferry and limited phone cover, we found that they had made a mistake and there was no-one at the property at all. We were told that this was not the first time it had happened. And this despite me having emailed with an arrival time the day before. Luckily we were 'rescued' by a helpful apartment owner. Otherwise, at that time of day, our only option would have been to walk on a further two hours.
