It is a shame about snowshoes these days. They are metal and poly-something webbing. What was wrong with the old way of making them?
Beautifully bent wood and sinew stretched by human hands! They were made of earthly things and I imagine that walking in them, you too would feel of the earth. Gingerly traversing a frozen plain, that distinctive squeaky crunch of snow underneath you, your cold breath leading the way. Where is the romance? Bring back the old fashioned snowshoes I say
